Dear Colleagues,
I’ve had the honor of working alongside you as a professor in the Philosophy Dept. now for six years and representing your interests on the CCFF contract negotiations team, and I’m very excited at the opportunity to serve you all as president of CCFF.
Higher education in the U.S. is under serious attack and faculty unions are on the front lines defending the rights of faculty so we can provide the best education for our students. While academic freedom erodes across the country, CCFF’s negotiation team secured two new CBA articles that strengthen intellectual property and due process rights. We managed to get salary increases and stipends for all faculty for three years despite the district’s self-described ‘stagnant budget’. We also increased part-time faculty equity, securing PT healthcare and increasing PT pay with new steps and higher ancillary rates.
CCFF leadership has already done an outstanding job of advocating for better pay, working conditions, academic freedom, and equity for all faculty. Our union is in a strong position now with a great contract, engaged members, and a secure financial foundation. My goal as president will be to continue this upward trend, and I hope to earn your support.
In Solidarity,
Will
I have been a full time faculty at Cerritos College since 2012 in the Communication Studies Department. I believe in the power of collective bargaining and faculty unity. I have held a variety of leadership positions at Cerritos College including Faculty Senate President and Secretary. I am the current Vice President of Full Time Faculty and Lead Negotiator for CCFF. I value open communication, honesty, and engaging faculty across our campus. I would be proud to continue to serve as Vice President of Full Time Faculty and Lead Negotiator.
I have served as Vice President of Part-Time Faculty for CCFF for several years, and am running to continue serving. I have worked as part-time faculty at Cerritos College for a decade and am well acquainted with the issues that we face, and am willing to do the work to advocate for our needs. I’ve also served as the chair of our Grievance Committee for the last few years and have worked for the rights of all faculty, part-time and full-time, to make sure that they have the best working conditions possible. I would be honored to continue serving Cerritos College faculty for the next term.
My name is MiaSarah Walsh, I am a Full-Time CLI Faculty, who was appointed the position of union secretary in Spring 2024. My interest in serving as an e-board member stemmed from my desire to become better acquainted with the contract, negotiations, institutional practices/decision making, and overall union work at the local and state level. As secretary, my hope then and now is to ensure I am present for every e-board meeting, public meeting, board meeting, recruitment/membership opportunity, professional development workshops/conferences, and advocacy efforts.
In the past year that I have served as secretary, I have learned a great deal and fully intend to continue to grow in my capacity and responsibilities as an e-board member. As an e-board member, I am eager to continue engaging in courageous conversations intended to support the rights, benefits, and working conditions of all faculty at Cerritos College.
My name is Louis Williams, and I’m running for Part-Time Member at large of the Cerritos College Faculty Federation. As a Part-Time Counselor in general counseling, I have had the privilege of working at Cerritos College for the past three years and have been an active member of our Faculty Federation during that entire time.
I come to this position with a deep belief in the power of unions, having been a member of the Compton Community College Federation of Employees – Classified AFT Local 3486A for 10 years. Currently, I’m also a member of the Rio Hondo College Faculty Association as a Full-Time Faculty member. My experience has shown me firsthand how unions are vital for advocating for fair wages, benefits, working conditions, and job security. Through collective bargaining, unions help ensure that workers are treated equitably and contribute to a stable, productive workforce.
I believe it’s time to elevate our Part-Time Faculty benefits and ensure everyone has a voice. As Part-Time members, we matter, and together, we can create lasting change. I’m committed to working collaboratively with all of you to improve our working conditions and secure the benefits we deserve.
Let’s unite for better support, better working conditions, and a stronger voice for Part-Time Faculty. Together, we can make a difference!
Thank you for your support.

My name is Chad Greene, and I am a professor and a co-chair of our English Department at Cerritos College. Before I transitioned into teaching at the college level, I was a professional journalist — first, a newspaper reporter and, then, a magazine editor. In both those careers, I have developed a set of skills that would enable me to serve my fellow CCFF members as communications chair. At Cerritos, I have applied those communication skills to projects such as editing our most recent accreditation report for the ACCJC as well as our new Students First Framework and to writing documents such as the unit plans for the English Department and, before that, for our Center for Teaching Excellence (CTX). Speaking of which, during my time at Cerritos, I have served my fellow faculty in a number of leadership positions, such as the coordinator of our CTX, the chair of our Faculty Professional Development Committee, and the chair of our Professional Relations Committee. I would be honored to use my communication and leadership skills to serve my fellow CCFF members as communications chair.
As a Communication Studies professor at Cerritos College for the past 24.5 years, my experience as a tenured faculty member with longevity and continued participation in CCFF will prove rewarding if you select me to represent you as the FT Member-at-Large. My appointment to the CCFF e-board has been rewarding since 2014. I want to continue to make a difference as a participating e-board member for the union. During my involvement in CCFF, I participated as a volunteer, appointed or in an elected position to the board in the following positions: grievance, grievance chair, interim secretary, membership team chair, and FT member-at-large faculty representative.
As the FT member-at-large representative for the last several years, I coordinated annual membership meeting events, facilitated workshops, ran recruitment events, and updated and collected membership outreach through email, hustle, and connecting face-to-face and phone communications. My goal for this next term is to provide full-time faculty members a platform to communicate their needs so that I, as the full-time representative, can directly advocate for our members' needs. In addition, I am dedicated to providing innovative ways to unite members and foster a strong sense of community amongst faculty members. Lastly, my goal would be to communicate to faculty their union members benefits as well as continued efforts to recruit new and current faculty members who are not current members. Lastly, my goal would be to continue the conversation on what can be done as a union executive board member to assist faculty in this role during the next term.
